Meet Anne, our new yoga teacher
At Smedberg Consulting we are big proponents of a healthy work-life balance. We want to inspire our readers to keep up their work-life balance. So we have prepared a collaboration with fabulous yoga instructor and personal trainer, Anne Brolén, to share some inspirational and helpful advice to you every other Wednesday the next 10 weeks. How did you get introduced to yoga?
My first encounter with yoga was about 15 years ago, when I was a fitness competitor. I wanted to become more flexible and strong for my free routine, and discovered that Ashtanga yoga was a way to develop these qualities.
What was it that kept you practicing yoga? What positive impact has it had on you?
In the beginning I was mostly after being strong, flexible and being able to do cool poses, but that has changed. Now, my practice is more about getting in tune with myself – connecting body, breath and mind. Also, it’s great body maintenance! It makes me more at ease and comfortable with my body, and allows me to move more freely.
When is your favorite time of day to practice?
Any time, really! Whenever I can make my way on to my yoga mat is a good time.
When not practicing yoga, where do you love going?
I love the outdoors, going trail-running or swimming in a pretty lake. Hellasgården nature reserve close to where I live is a favourite spot. If going abroad, I love Spain. Mallorca is a huge favourite – especially in the spring.
Lastly, what is you best quick yoga advice for a beginner?
Keep it simple! You get to decide what kind of yoga you want, and how you practice it. And listen to your body, it’s usually smarter than you 😉
